Panorama of Telescopes at Kensington

Telescope Panorama

One of the major gatherings of amateur astronomers in Southeast Michigan is the Great Lakes Association of Amateur Astronomy Clubs (GLAAC) annual star party at Kensington Metropark near Brighton. This year's event was titled "Astronomy on the Beach", and it took place on July 21st and 22nd. The star party featured club members and telescopes from many different southern Michigan astronomy clubs. The evening's program included several astronomy presentations and keynote addresses by U of M's Dr Thomas Zurbuchen and NASA Astronaut Col. Jack Lousma.

Here's just one segment of the "Telescope Farm" at Kensingtion. Over 100 telescopes were present over both Friday and Saturday nights.
